It’s very powerful. I didn’t realize it didn’t have a light after I purchased it but I suppose I could put a headlamp on it.

The variable suction function is useless. It is supposed to reduce airflow but it really has minimal impact. If you need variable suction for curtains or washable upholstery look into a Miele. I have a Miele as well and the variable suction control seems to be at the motor itself.

I have the orig one since 2013. And some of the tube connector are drying out. So I wanted to get the same vacuum due to having the bear floor attachment and extra filters already. Never had a problem with the old unit. And still works, but I can tell the new unit has better pick up and the brushes are new. If you have the bare floor attachment, this unit will work with it. Check out the pictures.

I’m replacing another shark that I had for about 2 1/2 years and it finally died on me, but it also sat in my closet for two years before I actually pulled it out and used it. I love a cordless vacuum. I will never not have one I don’t even own a corded vacuum. I have a long-haired German Shepherd, or should I say German Shedder lol so I use my vacuum at least once a day

I had this model shark before.. mine was about 10 years old and for some reason it lost some of its suction power.. but again, it was 10 yrs old. I figured, I'd buy it again and I'm glad I did. I can't remember my old one being this hard to push.. yeah, it doesn't just glide but damn if it doesn't clean. I thought my carpet was clear until I ran it over and it must've picked up debris from under the carpet..lol. Another good purchase!

This is a Day One review - not a long time user review. That being said, assembly was crazy easy. Just snap the bits into place. I set up a test for this vacuum. I let dog fur build for 2 weeks (my dog is part lab and sheds like crazy, and we also have guest dogs come stay with us including a husky type dog who sheds a lot as well) so there were significant dog fur tumbleweeds on the hardwood, and ground in dog fur on my living room carpet (highest traffic in terms of dogs spending time in the room and general use). I ran my other vacuum, a Dyson animal stick vacuum on half of the carpet and half of the tumbleweeds along the baseboards. I then ran the Shark on the other half of the carpet and along the baseboards to catch those tumbleweeds. The Shark seemed more efficient, handled the fur better in terms of sucking it up easily, and then in a final test, I ran the Shark over where I'd used Dyson before, and it pulled up even more fur that Dyson just couldn't pull up. I love that there's suction control so it handles different length pile of carpet, and you can turn the beater bar off to avoid scratching hardwood. The filters are also easy to access for cleaning, and emptying the canister and replacing it is super easy unlike Dyson which can be finicky to put back in. Needless to say Shark will be my daily workhorse since it seems more than up to the task, and Dyson is now going to be a glorified dustbuster for small tasks.

Easy to assemble no tools needed! This vacuum is powerful. Use this and you’ll think you wasted your time with the other vacuums. I vacuumed my floors with a different vacuum three days ago and then this one today. I was shocked at how well it cleaned and the amount of dirt in the canister. Easy to clean, easy to maneuver around furniture and extremely durable! Pick up speed is great as long as the suction is adjusted.

The SHARK UPRIGHT NAVIGATOR is the BEST vacuum cleaner I have ever purchased! I love the way it lets me navigate all around my furniture, I love that it lets me clean underneath my tables, and I love how POWERFUL the suction is! I thought my fully-carpeted small house was clean when the Navigator arrived, but after one use, the LARGE clear canister on this machine was FULL. The carpet was so much cleaner, and it has a setting for hard floors also. The difference in cleaning was amazing. My old vacuum was okay, but this thing is AMAZING. My allergies can feel the wonderful difference too! And the machine is easy to maneuver, even for a small woman like me. Shipping was SO FAST with Amazon Prime, the seller's price was great, and I was able to assemble and USE my new Navigator in 2 minutes. I highly recommend this vacuum to everyone! A great house gift to give to anyone, and for yourself! Enjoy :)

Excelente aspiradora. Espero me dure bastante. Totalmente recomendada.

This vacuum has the strength of all the ancestors combined. It doesn’t clean the carpet .. it attempts to pull it up by the roots, especially on the stairs. I could physically feel the carpet lifting while vacuuming. The suction is unreal!

Now let’s talk about the canister. I took a picture of what this thing picked up and I was HORRIFIED. I keep my carpets pretty clean, so I genuinely do not know where all that debris was hiding. At this point, I’m convinced it vacuumed the padding underneath the carpet and possibly a layer of my dignity.

Fair warning: pushing and pulling this vacuum requires effort. You will gain arm strength. The stair attachment works best at a very specific angle and unfortunately the lift-away is bulky.

My floors are spotless, my carpet is traumatized, and I’m questioning everything I thought I knew about cleanliness.
    Highly recommend. Stretch first. 💪🏽

This little vacuum is a powerhouse!! This is my first time in a long time to give a review, and first ever to embarrass myself with what came out of my carpet. 😂😂 I was using a robot vacuum and decided to use my brand new Sharp with attachments. What you see is a high-trafficked area that's @ 10' x 15' and one side of a small bedroom!!! WOW!!!! It's easy to put together, easy to clean hoses, the foot, and the filters. I'd put this little powerhouse up against a much bigger vacuum anyday. I trusted the Sharp name to give me my money's worth but I want expecting this!!

The best vacuum ever. I am replacing the exact one from 18 years ago. Used it all the time. While not the best for hardwood or tile ( I have another vacuum for these) it does a fabulous job on carpet or rugs. Light weight, I could use the tank on stairs. You will not believe how much it picks up. Obviously I had a choice when my old one finally died but when it came, I put it together (very easy), and put it to work. I knew I had made the right replacement decision.

i'll try to be as unbiased as I can but this wasn't a purchase I approved of. We have a huge dog hair problem Burnese mountain dog that weighs almost 100 lbs. Sheds everywhere! OMG! I wanted to get the best vacuum to get all this hair up. I really wanted the Shark Stratos because it has dual rollers but wife wanted to save money and got this one. IT's older technology with just the one roller so yes, hair does get caught up in it. But, on a good nite, it really does pick up all the hair, at least for now. Suction is very good and I like that you can turn the roller on and off depending on the surface your using it on. For my carpet, I leave the roller on. Moving to the kitchen floor to get up sand, I can flip a switch which turns off the roller and keep going. Awesome feature btw. Yes it works well and I do recommend it. Just not what I would have made my first choice. But what do I know, I'm just the man slave around here, lol

I’ve had my $300 bissell vacuum for 3 years, I love it I felt like I had the best vacuum on the market. It’s all hardwood on main floor and carpet 2nd floor. Got tired of carrying the vacuum back and forth so I looked for something new and not too expensive- and oh, my gawd. This vacuum knocks my pride & joy out of the water! The suction- the suction is POWERFUL. My carpets haven’t had that brand-new look since we got it installed. this vacuum gives you the “lines” and cleans all the way to the floorboards. It’s extremely light weight and I love how the brush stops rolling automatically if you go off the carpet to harder surfaces… my house never goes 2 days without being vacuumed so I couldn’t believe when I used this and saw how much dirt it was picking up. We usually dump the tank weekly, I had to before I was even done my first round upstairs. I forgot how much I missed those vacuum lines! Ok now the stairs: this unit has two attachments one flat square one and an extended pointy one to get every crack and crevice. It’s so easy just to put on the carpet stair attachment and zoom down it takes half the time we used to spend doing the stairs and again I cannot believe how much crap it pulled up. This shark vacuum just gave my carpets another life seeing how clean it got everything! About a year ago my pride n joy bissell started making weird noises so I took it to a vacuum shop and the owner asked me if I ever considered getting a shark vacuum and now I know why…This is my first shark device ever and I truly will only buy this brand from now on!

It is extremely rare that I write a review within minutes of receiving a product. But Amazon delivered this vacuum to me and within 20 minutes, I had it together and was vacuuming my living room rug. Now, let me preface this with the fact that this is my 3rd Shark vacuum (2nd lift away) so I am not new to the quality and performance. I'll also add that I just vacuumed my living room rugs just a day or 2 ago with my rechargeable Shark Vertex Pro. I honestly thought it was doing a good job. That is until I got this Liftaway Navigator Pro and was blown away at the dirt and dog hair it pulled out of my rug. I still cant believe the power in this thing. Now will it last over a decade like my other lift away, only time will tell. But for now, I am extremely happy with this vacuum and highly recommend it to anyone who needs an amazing vacuum for under $150 bucks!

Ya’ll… I am a Virgo sun, Virgo moon and Capricorn rising. My entire existence revolves around being clean. That is difficult with 2 boys and a dog, however I try. I kept saying that our overpriced new Dyson wasn’t picking up dirt despite cleaning the vacuum and filter weekly. I also vacuum DAILY all surfaces of our house. The crumbs persist, but so do I.

Well, here’s the proof. I used this one time on our living room carpet and bedroom carpet. And here we are. The Dyson does not work on carpet, clearly. This thing is powerful. I lift weights 3-4x a week and I mean this in a very Will Ferrel way when I say this thing is “sucky”. I could manage it but if you aren’t weight lifting, might wanna buy some dumbbells with this order cause she will suck up all the dirt and hope you had left thinking you were a clean person.

It was extremely easy to put together and extremely easy to clean ( unlike my Dyson) I am embarrassed to even share these photos, but damn.

I have high hopes for this after first use. Hopefully it won’t break every other week like my Dyson did.

If you need a good vacuum that isn’t $900, buy this.

The amount of dirt this thing gets up is mind-blowing! I left the dirt in the cup so you can see how much dirt my rug that I thought was clean had in it.

Hubby ordered this sweeper and he made a Great decision. It arrived in a day or two and I assembled it quick and easily. Tried it out and it was easy to push no backbreaking to push it around. It glides over the carpet even high pile carpet. But, the ”BEST" thing is it REALLY sucks up the dirty that's still embedded in the carpets even after you ran another sweeper brand in your house. I couldn't believe how it sucked up that dirt. Definitely Recommend this sweeper. 👍🏻👍🏻⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😊

Good god this is the best vacuum I’ve ever used. I just cleaned the floor yesterday with my old one and used this one today just to see how well it would do, and the stuff that came out of my carpet was insane.

The suction is crazy and the vacuum will literally crawl its way across the carpet! It’s decently light weight. Used it in lift off mode to get some dust out of the corners on the ceiling and it only got heavy after feeling after a few minutes. I’m just shocked at how well this thing cleans. Well worth what you’ll spend on it.

People who say this is hard to push are either weak or extremely old or both. As I said this vacuum will lightly walk itself across your carpet so not sure how it’s hard to push. The only thing I can think of is they didn’t turn the rollers on. You can turn the roller off for hard floors and on for carpeting. Even with the roller off it’s still not hard to push.

Asthma allergens finally in check after using this vacuum! It arrived and I did struggle with the assembly because I’m a try first, read later kind of person. Left the pile of parts for the husband to put together which he said was very easy. I was hesitant about getting this because it has a cord, normally I prefer cordless, but so worth it! The amount of dust it pulled out of a previously vacuumed rug was embarrassing! Within a few hours I had a notable difference in my allergy congestion and asthma that is normally worse in the winter (because I have a severe allergy to dust and cats… yes I have cats too). Not so heavy, can be carried up and down stairs easily. No weird smell through the filters when you use it and the dust bin thing it’s larger than most canister vacuums I’ve used. Love this vacuum already and have already told several people I know to also get it.

Don’t waste your $ on one of the myriad of cheap stick vacuums that are produced by companies with names that seem to have been created by mixing up alphabet letters. You know the ones - here today, gone before the battery on your new “fantastic” purchase is lasting 10 minutes. Been there, done that - twice.

In the price/value realm - this is a true winner. Light, excellent performance on both carpet and tile, quick charge time in a great docking station. With 2 labs that produce more stray hair than you think possible - you know the rest of the story! Ideal for my 850 sq ft condo, never an issue with battery life - though I do suspect that if you’re in a place much larger than 1250 - the run time may become an issue. Only unfortunate aspect is that there are no accessory tools for when a brush or crevice tool at the end of a hose would be great. If you have mostly carpet, this is not a substitute for a true “deep clean” carpet vacuum, but it sure comes awfully darn close. Make this your obvious choice.

This is a long one, but it's worth the read if you're doing some serious shopping for a vacuum cleaner:
I picked this up in October so I've been using it for a few months just to get a genuine sense of how this vacuum really performed and I am absolutely impressed! This beats my Dyson AND my Kirby hands down. Superior suction, amazing maneuverability, lighter than either the Kirby or the Dyson. ( If you're wondering why I own so many vacuums, I clean for a living.) I bought this for the house. I have two cats and a husband who's into Warhammer so you know there are sprew bits and cat hair everywhere and this thing handles it like a champ! I wasn't sold on how small the floor attachment was until I used it: I can get underneath my barstools so much easier now and my entire house ( approx. 2000 sq ft.) is done in 20 minutes, tops! There is a learning curve, but that's something you get with any new vacuum. I was also super impressed by the ease with which I can switch from floor to handheld attachments. Some of these other vacuums I've used are so bulky and difficult to handle all the small attachments... Not this one! I'm able to switch back and forth from floor to handheld quick, fast and in a hurry. Bonus points that it's lightweight. I'm not killing myself just to vacuum my house. It's really saved my back! And it was so much less expensive than the Dyson or the Kirby. The window on the floor attachment gives me a clear view of the roller brush ( yeah, it makes me accountable which is a good thing. It's harder to ignore when I can see it so thanks for that, too. ). The cord is a tad short, so I went ahead a bought a small extension cord to go with it, but other than that, I'm very impressed! I wish I had bought this years ago. I will never buy another vacuum from anyone else other than Shark again. Good job, guys! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious little vacuum.

I love to clean and I got this while it was on sale and Oh my gosh I love it. It’s so nice and has the little side pieces and their compartments, great suction, fairly compact for a large vacuum. It was also very easy to put together, I feel like even full price that it’s worth it. I’m really happy with it and I got it less than a month ago but have already used it so much just because I enjoy seeing how much it picks up. I also read some bad reviews about the cord- cord is like 10-12ft so I wouldn’t say that it’s short. If you’re cleaning a really big area I’m sure there’s more than one outlet just change where it’s plugged in- perfect for bedrooms though!

This is an amazing vacuum. If anyone can find a less expensive vacuum with more suction power than this one, I would be stunned. It will bring carpet back to life. Carpet that has been walked on and pressed down for 20 years. And it doesn't take several passes over every inch of carpet. Be prepared to weigh down or use the power handheld tool to vacuum rugs that aren't heavy. If you doubt me at all, check the watts and amps of this vacuum and this is a Shark. Enough said!

We were not happy with the suction of this vacuum, and it made loud noises after we purchased it in June 2025. We bought the Asurion Warranty with it. After I contacted Amazon, they told me to contact Asurion, which we did. They gave me some options to try to fix it, and it turns out the hose was blocked by about 10 inches of debris. Once I removed all that from the hose, it works fine. I don't know why it was blocked since I have been faithful in emptying the vacuum canister. So I don't know if it was our problem or the vacuum's. I guess my review is more for the help I received from Asurion AI. Right now, the vacuum is working as expected, so giving it a good rating.

You always think your house is clean until you buy a new vacuum! We had been using a shark rechargeable stick vac for a couple of years but with two dogs it just was worn out. Decided we’d go back to corded, and are so glad we did! This thing is powerful, light weight and does an amazing job cleaning. Also not bad noise- wise.
I really like how the canister can be removed from the base to do steps and stuff like that. Everything feels like it has good build quality.

We have two Dyson vacuums, a stick and a Dyson ball. I will use this vacuum before either of those. The suction is great, the vacuum lines are satisfying and I am a religious vacuum user vacuuming multiple times a week and I couldn’t believe the amount of dust this vacuum picked up despite that.
The only con(s) about this vacuum is the accessory holder is worthless. The accessories don’t stay on well. The Dyson definitely has this vacuum beat as far as ease of use with attachments. I would buy again.

This is the vacuum you need!! I had two dysons in the past-a V11 and v-15 detect. This Shark surpasses them by far! How do I know? I shampoo my carpets often and you always want to vacuum before shampooing. With my dysons, I would vacuum then shampoo and a TON of hair would come up in the caper cleaner. With the shark, almost none! I also love the bigger tank and I really feel like the suction is higher. I clean my baseboards with no problem and no bending over because the suction is perfect. Love it!

Incredible! I mean just incredible. I was gasping. The suction is so powerful when using a thick rug. You’re going to need some force and fight this suction. I finished just my one rug, and the whole tank was full. The tank is massive. This is such a good vacuum. I’m so stoked. I was living with this. It picks up dirt so well. It’s immense. It’s super strong. Sometimes I’m clumsy and I drop it, and no damage. It’s a wall plug. In the cord, it is decently long, but I do like cordless because I feel they have a lot more power than batteries, and their battery life. You know, it would be annoying to have to change the batteries constantly if you need a cheap, SUPER powerful vacuum. This may just be the winner.

This replaced a 20 yo heavy Hoover upright.

    Here's my thoughts:
    1. Xlnt on med thick w-w carpet
    2. Easy to empty
    3. Very good suction but so much it sticks to thick Chinese throw rugs
    4. Love the pole/tube detachment/lift away to vacuum in hard to get places
    5. Light weight makes it easy to move around
    6. Easy to adjust suction

    Minor Cons:
    1. Doesn't always stay locked upright when going from room to room.
    2. Detaching lift away is a PIA as the button not is in an awkward location it doesn't always function properly
    3. Upholstery tool needs brushes at the suction end in order to vacuum hard to reach crevices w/o damaging clot furniture
    4. Handle is shaped weird making grip semi awkward when turning vacuum left or right.
    5. Wish the head (vacuum part) was 4 - 6 inches wider

As another seller has said, I had a Rainbow vacuum for 6 years. It was great but, getting older, it got heavy and awkward. I needed something lighter weight and easier to empty. This works great, especially with pet hair from 2 cats. Very strong suction on rug setting. It does tip easily when using the wand, so I ordered the 10ft hose from another seller. Perfect. Now I don't even have to lift it off to vacuum the air vents in the ceiling. The triple filter system is great, also. No dust particles going back into the air and it cuts down on the allergens. Takes up less storage room, too.

This Vacuum is Awesome! I love the white color. It weighs 13 lbs. and may be in the heavy side for some, myself included, but then, I wouldn't want a cheaper plastic one like the little one I had before where it will be used in my garage now.

This was on sale when I purchased it which made it even better. I paid a little more than the ones I was looking at but now I see the difference in how well this is made.

This one I got because I needed something more powerful to pick up pet hair, hay, and bedding more.
I highly recommend this vacuum regardless if it was a just a few pounds heavier than the average.

Babbbbbbyyyyy! Best investment I’ve made in a long while. This is coming from someone who most would call OCD. We are also a shoeless home. We have been using our robot cleaner for the past year since pausing our monthly cleaning service and would accumulate between 4 bedrooms with carpet at most a handful of lint/particles.

This collection pictured came from the master bedroom and walk-in closet alone! It almost filled the dispenser in its entirety in one take . I am mind-blown that we’ve been walking on and living in this 🫣 but am so grateful to have it gone. Can’t wait to put this to use daily and hope to never see this amount accumulate again. Amazing investment!

Very powerful suction, light weight for an upright, and comes with useful tools. My washable rugs are impossible to vacuum with this due to the strong suction. You simply can’t push hard enough to move the vacuum along on the rug. Worked okay on a thin but non washable rug- had to push super hard, quite a workout. But with my standard rug (probably 3/4” thick) it was easy to push, the vacuum pulls itself forward. I imagine this vacuum would work great on carpet, but I don’t have any. Also love that it’s great for stairs, the detachable canister is easy to rest on each step as you work you way up. I had no issue emptying it into the trash can, just stick it inside the can before you open the latch to avoid spilling. I wish it had a light to illuminate the floor and make it easier to see the mess- but I can buy one separately to stick on the side.

Let's talk about the design. My wife chose it in white, her favorite color, and its futuristic design really catches the eye. It's an attractive feature that stands out with its powerful suction for deep cleaning carpets and hard floors. Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry, and the top part detaches to reach high places without losing suction power. The dustbin has an extra-long, high-capacity dustbin. What really makes this vacuum stand out are its filters that trap allergy-causing particles. The power cord is quite long, it comes with several nozzles, and the head adapts to different spaces because it rotates for better cleaning efficiency. You can use it on carpets and floors. It's incredible what it can do; I highly recommend it.

Well LICK me up and call me an ice cream, this thing is a beast. just ran it on my freshly vacuumed carpet to see how much it pulled up compare to my Shark cu510 that i have had for 2 years (amazon refurbished). it pulled up a 1/4 bin and a tooooon of dust. like so much that it was shocking and i have a cat. my room smells completely different in a good way and i am thoroughly happy with my purchase. this is a major upgrade. Only take-away is the size; she thick af so hard to reach places you must use the tools for. The folks at Shark anticipated this and put a Tool Holder on the side. super handy and nice that i don't have to make another trip to grab a tool from my bag. I noticed that it doesn't get suctioned to the floor like my Shark u510 did on medium carpet. This one feels smooth on both the "more suction" and "less suction" settings via the twist doohickey on the handle. i hope this lasts because it is a dream so far. very happy over here and it is about a vacuum so there's that.

HOLY SMOKES! this thing is amazing. Seriously - I had a Dyson that died (bad $40 clutch that would cost me $200 to have fixed). Decided to just get an "interim solution" but this Shark cleans better than the Dyson when it was new! As soon as it arrived, I assembled it in 3 minutes, then set off to "test" it on a clean rug in our family room. Totally shamed that I thought the rug was clean.... It's seriously fun to use! If you're in to patterns on the carpet, this thing rocks. If you just want to make sure you have a super clean floor (hardwood or carpet), this bad boy is a beast machine! I'm feeling like an idiot for falling for the marketing that makes anyone consider a $500+ vacuum! Just shut up and buy this thing - you won't regret it! (PS, We've had one in our FLA condo for years but I never really thought it was a true whole house vacuum...more of just a quick clean up alternative to a thorough cleaning....I stand corrected!) If you haven't already hit the "BUY NOW", do it- you won't regret it!!!!

Definitely get this vacuum. I have a 1bd apartment that is 80% carpet and it works great. I am sure there are better vacuums out there but this vacuum will get a very good amount of your animals hair and dirt out of the carpet. The brush on it definitely works great however longer hair does get tangled in the brush but you can easily get it out. This doesnt affect the vacuum right away, you can keep cleaning what you have to clean before you need to untangle the brush. Over all I love my vacuum, it definitely helps keep my apartment as clean as can be.
It can maneuver good. Will not fit under a sofa or bed if thats what youre looking for. Mine doesnt heat up but im sure its because I am not using it for more than 5 minutes at a time. I turn it off in between rooms. This will take up about the same width of your kitchen trash can so if if you can fit you can there, your vacuum will definitely fit. Keep in mind the vacuum is taller than a kitchen trash can.
The cord will always get in the way because its a cord. Its attached to the thing, yes you will have to keep it out of the way like any other vacuum. In mu apartment I can leave it plugged in at one spot and I can get the entire apartment without needing to move the plug. My apartment is small. 600 sqft. You can use this on bare floor but I would rather sweep than use the vacuum on bare floor.

Very strong suction for carpets!! I purchased this vacuum prior to sinus surgery that comes partly due to environmental allergies, dust as the particular concern - highly allergic to dust. When this vacuum arrived I went through my home cleaning out each area carpet, but also cleaning furniture, stairs. I was very very happy to find that this vacuum has stronger suction than I have experienced with other Shark and Bissel vacuums purchased in the past. While I was most concerned about suction quality for dust, I do have dogs that shed and this easily cleaned up dog hair also.
One thing to consider is that the attachment for stairs and furniture is at a set angle (does not rotate), and it would be helpful if it did. Also, it does not work on my smaller (3x5) rug that doesn't have the weight of a strong backing.
Still, I am so impressed with the suction and believe this does such a good job on dust and dog hair in addition to everything else, I still give it a 5.

As a pet owner, I cannot stress this enough buy this vacuum. I have a fur baby that sheds so badly I’m constantly worried about my carpet being filled with pet hair and messing with my family’s allergies. Ever since I started consistently vacuuming with this vacuum, the allergies have gotten way better. It picks up dirt perfectly and normally I only have to run through the ground two or three times. The noise level is on par with most vacuums but let’s be honest. Are we looking for a quiet vacuum or a powerful vacuum that’s excellent quality for your money? It’s extremely functional and I could not recommend the vacuum enough. I honestly have owned so many different brands like Bissell and Dyson for when it comes to cleaning up after pets and this one is the one I even had my professional cleaners they use the same vacuum for all their clients with pet hair so if you’re a pet parent, this one is the one for you trust me.

Before buying this Shark NV356E V5 Professional I read the reviews on it. I was pretty much convinced after one reviewer said that she had vacuumed her carpet with the other unit (some other brand I think ) she had and after going over it again with her new Shark, she was amazed at how much MORE the Shark picked up. So, I wanted to do the same experiment. I vacuumed our small bedroom, the hallway runner carpets, two thick “Muddy Mat” (for dog paws) area rugs by the slider, runner near front door, living room rug and our large den carpet with my Kenmore Pop-up canister vacuum very slowly and thoroughly with a new dust bag in it. When done, the bag was full. Then I vacuumed the bedroom, hallway, runner near front door and living room rug. However, even with the suction collar completely open, the Shark wouldn’t even move across the “Muddy Mats” as they are very thick. (more about this later.)
The dust cup on the Shark was already about 1/3 full (!) with even MORE dog hair, dirt and dust before I even got to the den! So I moved on to the den-one carpeted step down into the den. The Shark was easy to lift up down to the den and to lift up onto that step. I only did half of the den carpet and the dust cup was full - more hair and dirt and dust! I had to empty it to finish the rest of the den. It was almost half full again! To re-vacuum those two Muddy Mats, my husband suggested using the pet hair attachment and it worked! Brought up a good amount of hair, etc. Problem solved! I like the way I can switch to bare floor setting without having to turn it off, find the floor attachment and then put it on a wand. I really thought the Kenmore had great suction but this Shark puts that thing to shame! I just never liked how cumbersome the Kenmore is to pull the canister around; really hate how the wand with the motorized swivel head always falls over when I try to stand it up by itself, for example , when finding the floor attachment. Then I had to remove the motorized swivel head to put any attachments onto the wand. My carpets are 9 years old and now after using the Shark on them, they not only look like they’re been shampooed, they look new! The air coming out of the Hepa filter actually smells sweet! Also, I am 80 years old (and not decrepit nor feeble—still kind of youthful, people tell me) and this Shark is not too heavy nor awkward to use for me. I am so stinkin’ glad I decided to order this GREAT and so affordable Shark. (I got the Black Friday price 😄.) Photo is of the living room rug after using the Shark. So, yes, obviously I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner.

Warning, it's a long read, but I wanted to go into deep detail.

To start, I have been a Rainbow vacuum user for so long. I love them and felt they worked amazingly.

Next, I have 3 dogs & a cat. One is a thick coat lab and the cat sheds so much as well.

Another next, I have horrible allergies and wanted something that would help keep them calm as well. I also have a lung disease and need something that will pick up as much junk as possible to keep them clear.

Now, on to the Shark vacuum.
I got tired of lugging around the Rainbow and wanted to look into a vacuum that my daughter could use and help out.
I found this Shark vacuum and 6 others that grabbed my attention.
I dug deep. I read through every review, good, bad, indifferent.
I wanted a vacuum that was going to truly pick up pet hair/dander, as well as pick up sand & dirt.
I was drawn to this specific vacuum saying pet & allergen vacuum and loved that so many of the reviews said it had amazing suction power.
I thought there's no way ut can be as amazing as most were raving about.
After 2 months of digging and narrowing down vacuums, I was left with this one. I finally decided to purchase it and see what all the fuss was about.
It came in today and I immediately out it together to the it out.
I had just vacuumed with my Rainbow vacuum 2 days before, so I didn't expect much.
Oh....my....gosh...! I am blown away! Seriously, no joke!
The picture you see attached was after 2 passes over a 2' x 2' area in my living room. Not kidding...pushed it forward, pulled it back. Did this one other time. I was completely astonished! There is no way my carpet is that dirty after using my Rainbow 2 days before! I swore by that vacuum and how great of a job it did, so I thought.
This vacuum pulled out dirt, sand, pet fur from 3 families ago, it seems lol.
I immediately took this picture and dumped the resivoir since it was full.
I was excited to finish the rest of my living room and then move on to the rest of the house.
It took me 30 minutes to vacuum my living room because I had to keep stopping to empty the reservoir. I am grossed out that it was that dirty, but so grateful that I purchased this Shark vacuum.

The vacuum is super easy to put together. It's not heavy and is easy to use.
I love that it has the large vacuum and the option to break it down to a hand held vacuum to get baseboards and hard to reach areas.
I also love that the power switch has 3 positions; Off, Bare floor, and carpet.
I love that there is a place on the vacuum for hose attachments.
I love that the power cable is quite long.
I love that it's compact enough to fit in my coat closet, but large enough to vacuum the living room quicker than the sport vacuum. It makes vacuuming a breeze.

The price is amazing for being a Shark vacuum.

This vacuum is so amazing that I finished vacuuming, rinsed the resivoir and filter, put it away, and immediately sat down to write this review.

Seriously give this vacuum a try!
Your only regret is that you didn't get it sooner.

I will update this review if anything changes.
I am convinced this is the perfect vacuum.

I need to start this off by saying I paid full price for my vacuum. This is not a paid review. This is my complete unbiased opinion on some thing I paid full price for.
I was trying to choose between this vacuum and the Bissell pet pro, I believe. I had googled the top 10 best vacuums, this one was number one and the Bissell was number two. When I asked, my friend, they said to go with the Bissell, because that’s the brand that they knew. The Bissell was also around $100 less than the shark. Regardless, I had other intentions.
My shark arrived within two days. No damages to the package. It was double boxed. Opening the box, assembly was very simple to understand and easy enough anyone could handle it. I had no problem putting this vacuum together in less than five minutes. All the pieces were there. It literally just snapped together.
Did I read the instructions on the manual on? What does what? Absolutely not. When I first started the vacuum, I was unknowingly using it on the bare floor setting on carpet. It still picked up everything. I was a little shocked about how quiet it was, and how heavy it felt trying to move it. I realized that the brushes weren’t turned on, and I have to click the button all the way down… 😅
Keep in mind, I swept my carpet with a broom first. I swept up into a dust pan the bigger pieces like cat food and treats. I have three cats, by the way. The vacuum is significantly lighter when you have the brushes activated(obviously). I did one pass on the living room floor and shockingly to my surprise I filled up the entire container. The hair was separated from the dust. And there’s a light on the right side of the base of the vacuum that will turn from green to red if you have an obstruction. For me, the light did not turn red. I just wanted to make that known just in case somebody else chooses to not read the instructions as I did.
When I tell you, I’ve never had a vacuum pick up every piece of debris hair cat food whatever you name it this vacuum picked it up in one pass. No exaggeration.

    Things I was concerned about:
    1. The body of the vacuum is very bulky and wide. My concern with this was that I wouldn’t be able to reach close spots into corners and under furniture. The base of the vacuum swivels from the body, so this was not a problem at all.
    2. Also, regarding the body, it is very front, heavy and not rear heavy. so it is awkwardly unbalanced and can tip over if you bump in to it. that’s really the only complaint that I have about it and it’s not enough that I would take a star away from this review because of the quality of the vacuum, the functions in the gadgets, and all the bells and whistles. This vacuum has it all and I love it.
    3. My only other concern was that hair could get trapped in the brush and caused me issues with trying to finish, vacuuming my floor in sitting. This was also not an issue. This vacuum works like a dream and never in my life. Would I ever think that I would be so excited and giddy over a machine that I use to do chores.

One improvement that COULD be made, but isn’t a game changer; make the cord retract with a button instead of having to wrap it up by hand. Is that lazy of me to say? LOL YES. I don’t care 🤣 that’s the only thing my bissel did that this Shark does not do.

So all in all, I truly give this vacuum five stars. I show this vacuum off to my friends. I let my friends take it for a test drive. I am obsessed with it. It has changed the way I feel about having to vacuum.
If you are concerned about the price, maybe you want it but you still don’t know if it’s worth it? Can you potentially afford it? If you can, I’m telling you right now to do it. Buy the vacuum. You will not regret it. This is probably one of the best home maintenance products that I’ve ever purchased. If anything goes wrong, of course, I will update my review, but I highly doubt it. This vacuum is nothing less than impressive. it was worth it for me.

I have attached photos of what the unit looks like after vacuuming my floor… it’s gross. It picked up years of dirt that had found its forever home at the very bottom of the carpet.
🥴 I’ll never have to deal with that again.

(Dust buildup inside the motor housing leading to bearing whine, brush roller wear that required modification to prevent additional damage, as well as handle damage that prevented the vacuum handle from staying locked in place and later being unable to be removed as it got jammed slightly at an angle.)

Moving on, this is actually a step up, despite having got it at a substantially lower price (99 dollars verse the original Bissell 2999 price being around 200 dollars.) I wanted something that people praised for higher reliability, and this advertised a limited 5 year warranty. I got it, because 99 for a well reviewed vacuum was excellent in idea. I then looked at reviews all over the internet only to find out more and more that the Shark NV360 was way better than expected.

My only caveats to date are that it has a smaller agitator head, and that it doesn't come with a agitator attachment, you'd need to get the Pro version NV356E to get the agitator attachment. It does come with a smaller crevasse tool and a very functional upholstery tool that also worked very very well on the stairs.

Suction on this vacuum is amazing. Especially compared to my Bissell 2999. I have Hoover and Bissell Vacuums, and the 2999 was better than my previous vacuums, but oddly not better than this current one from Shark, the NV360 just to keep things clear. The hose diameter is larger, and that typically means less pressure for most vacuums, however, that is not the case here. You really need to be careful when using the attachments as it will suck up a sock you may have got too close too and it'll all be too fast to recover from anywhere other than the dust bin.

Emptying the dustbin is more involved than my Bissell and Hoover vacuums, where a single button press allows you to pull the bin from its' resting place. In the case of the Shark, you will need to undo two latches that secure the bin in place, but while I thought this would be a bigger problem it has not been. Installing the bin has been a bigger issue than removing it but the process is still really simple. The dual latch does offer the better seal though as it allows for more uniform pressure on the seal under neath and keeps the dust flowing down. It does seem that the foam prefilter would need more cleans than my Bissell 2999 required, but I found that dust released from the Bissell system would agitate my nose a touch, because allergies, while I have had zero incidents of that with the shark. (The Bissell 2999 was still the best I had before I got this NV360 for allergies I experienced, I just thought it was because it was kicking something up but dust patterns formed later in its' life showing it was some dust leakage.)

Moving this around is easier than the Bissell 2999 as well, but that is partially because the base is smaller. Both were swivel style vacuums but the NV360 does better on tighter turns than the Bissell. The smaller head seems to also focus more of the dust into the dust bin. Going over areas the Bissell seamed done with, I found that there was still a ton of dirt and dust embedded into the carpet even after 8 passes with the Bissell. I only knew there was more because even though I wasn't getting anything more on the 8th pass with the Bissell, going over the same area with the NV360 showed there was still a lot of dust left in the carpet. The Bissell did get all the dog hair though and there was only dust and dirt that the shark was able to extract. (This also lead me to do a carpet clean though, as I have a Bissel carpet cleaner that I really like and I finished the job with that.)

My lesson learned though is that even with a great vacuum like the Shark or my previous best Bissell, you may have to vacuum more often than every 3-4 days as that dirt just keeps getting deeper if you dont.

Moving on, I am actually very impressed and absolutely can recommend this vacuum to anyone who needs something better. I absolutely can recommend it to anyone who has allergies like me as well. Best vacuum to date. Side note though, when researching vacuums, I did find that the Shark Stratos and Rotator options are more amazing when it comes to airflow and pressure as well as large objects and long hair, but they are between 200 and 300 dollars. For me this is the best option for now, especially seeing it was only 99 dollars when I got it.

tl;dr Best vacuum ever. Buy one!

After 9 years (next month) of daily use (and I'm sorry to report I am not gentle at all), I've started to notice a few concerns with my Shark NV356E Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Vacuum. About a year after purchase, I broke one of the clips that holds the dust bin onto the base. But you know what? Didn't matter. The dust bin sits on the base with a tight seal, so the loss of one of the clips has made no difference for the 8 years since it broke.

The real concern began when the roller brushes occasionally weren't spinning... I'd take apart the vacuum to be sure it was clean and unobstructed, wouldn't find any problem, but then the brushes would work again. Weird. Then one day a couple weeks ago, it just stopped in the middle of vacuuming. I'm telling you, I almost cried right then and there, but I walked away to calm down. When I came back, it turned on and worked fine. Weird again. I thought I'd better order a replacement. I love this vacuum so much, and it has been such an excellent workhorse, and one never knows when a company will stop manufacturing a certain model, so I ordered a second one to have as a replacement for when the sad time of the death of my first one comes (but you'd better believe I'll consult a repairman before fully giving up—that's how much I love this vacuum). (Also, just yesterday, I believe I've identified the problem: I think the switch has somehow gone bad. I'll be looking into how to replace it.)

Other "problems" I've had include the splitting of the hard part of the little hose at the bottom of the unit 2 years ago next month (7 years after purchase). Black electrical tape held it together until the replacement hose came. I have no idea why it broke, but there's about a 75% chance it was a user-generated problem. And the boy somehow vacuumed up the cord with such force that it damaged the protective outer coating. Again, black electrical tape "fixed" it. Speaking of the boy, he has at various times vacuumed up Legos, paper, dog food, rubber bands, spiders, gravel in the driveway (just to see if it worked), the occasional sock, powdered sidewalk chalk (I thought that one might have killed the vacuum, but no, he miraculously survived), soggy cereal directly from the bowl, and I can't tell you how many times he disassembled the vacuum during his "Deconstructed" phase (remember that TV show? ugh, our aspie boy failed to heed the subtitle: "we take it apart so you don't have to")... my Shark has valiantly kept on working.

Some people think the vacuum tips over too easily. True. The hose is stiff and doesn't stretch much. When using the wand, the vacuum will tip over as you pull on the hose, because it's quite top heavy and the hose is attached toward the top. The fix is to "lift away"—detach it from the floor base. Just takes depressing a release latch. Simple.

Emptying the dust bin seems to throw off some users who experience the dirt billowing out as they empty it. Again, an easy fix: lower the dust bin down into the waste basket (don't want to empty it into a full waste basket, you guys), and then depress the release button. The bottom swings open and the dirt and debris fall out into the waste basket. Then, turn the dust bin upside down, lower it into the waste basket again, and depress the release button for the lid to dump out any debris that has gathered in the upper chamber (Labrador undercoat hair seems to get stuck in there, so I do have to tap it so the hair falls out).

Maybe you live in a new house, but I don't. My house is very old, and we have the windows open as much as possible, so between the Kansas wind and the old house, we have dust like you wouldn't believe. I dust using the vacuumm and the dusting brush. We also have two dogs, one of which (a Labrador Retriever) sheds enough that I could probably knit a whole new dog each week with his sheddings. Therefore, we vacuum every day. The bedroom where the kennel sits fills the dust bin with hair at least once and sometimes twice per vacuuming.

Speaking of the dust bin, here's one thing I consider a design flaw: the fine mesh filter up inside the upper chamber of the dust bin is not removeable. It can get clogged with super-fine dust (especially if your child has vacuumed up something slightly wet, but also just with regular use), which lessens the suction power. It would be so nice and much easier to be able to remove that mesh cup to wash it. Since you can't, the way to keep it unobstructed or to clean it once it is clogged is to use a long-handled nylon bristle scrub brush—with the bristles dry, of course—to brush/scrape the mesh, then lower the dust bin into the waste basket and tap it to remove the fine dust.

Fine dust is also, guaranteed, going to fill up your filters, so my suggestion is to buy one or a few spare filter sets. Don't throw them away. We blow them out with our air compressor (although you could probably just beat the dust out of the two triangular filters like an old-fashioned housewife beats a rug), tie them—the two triangular filters, not the hepa filter—into a pillowcase, wash them in the washing machine, and dry them in the dryer with no fabric softener. (Update: I no longer wash my two triangular filters in a tied-closed pillowcase like a caveman. Now I use a mesh lingerie bag.)

Another tip: If your vacuum begins to smell not so fresh (say, like a giant dog butt), put a few of those fabric softener pellets/beads (like Downey Unstoppables) between the two triangular filters. They are dry, so they won't harm anything, but they will cause the vacuum to put out their scent each time you use it, which is much, much more pleasant than giant-dog-butt scent. When their scent wears out (or when you replace the filters with clean ones), just replace the beads with new.

Aaaaanyway, I did finally order a spare vacuum, just in case. When it arrived, I opened the box to find I had been sent a used vacuum. Gross! Hair in the brushes, hair and dirt in the dust bin. Oh my gosh, so disgusting. Hubs made it worse by pointing out I could have been sent a vacuum someone WITH BEDBUGS had used and returned. (The strangest part is that the box had a label from another department store.) The Amazon customer service representative facilitated a return and replacement, which I received yesterday. You'll be relieved to note it was brand new, never used. I assembled it (took approximately 1.35 minutes), and I plan to keep it upstairs, mostly unused until my original one finally gives up the ghost.

Surprise For Yet Another Dyson Owner

I never thought I’d be writing a review on a vacuum cleaner, but in this case after having had Dyson's for over 15 years this one earns a mention. Don’t let the price or name fool you, this easily out performs the Dysons in many ways. The Dyson(s) this is replacing is the DC07 Animal and DC27 ball vacuum. I have no regrets. My reviews are normally pretty long-winded, but I feel there's a lot to cover here for a product you hope to only buy once and service you for many years.

    Build
The product is fairly well constructed; however, it is not as heavy duty as the dyson. The clips are a little flimsier, and a little smaller. The Dyson is no champion in this department either as it’s entirely plastic and I’ve replaced pieces many times over the years. This seems to be rugged enough in places that matter, and I’m pleased to find the extension tube is made of metal. Parts snap together well and easily, and it seems to require far less effort to reconfigure. Size-wise it’s closer to the ball vacuum, power-wise the larger DC07. The powered floor brush is the same width as the Dyson ball, which is to say not very wide. It does have a window at the top so you can see if something is beginning to wind around the brush before it can cause trouble. Overall the weight and size make it an excellent choice for those with petite builds or senior citizens.
I’ll say this right up front though, this is not a particularly good looking vacuum cleaner. It’s decent enough, and certainly that’s not what you buy them for. Some parts are quite handsome, but the general appearance of the tank is industrial at best, and just a bit cluttered over all.

    Ergonomics
Here is a bit of a mixed bag. Ergonomically the Dyson has obviously had some top flight industrial engineers working on it, as everything is snug, streamline and compact in the ways all the parts fit together. Once you know how to reconfigure the Dyson to extend the hose, it makes sense but does have a bit of a learning curve. The Shark by contrast is simpler in many ways, if a bit fussier.

The “Lift-Away” canister allowing it to detach from the base is absolutely brilliant, and makes cleaning things like stairs, blinds, ceiling cobwebs etc. much easier. It’s far lighter than the Dyson, and easier to use. The swivel feature is similar to the ball vacuum, less sexy but works just as well. Basically, this is like having a canister and upright vacuum cleaner in one unit.

There are certain aspects that nearly appear to be tacked on, such as the cord holder. The Dysons have this on the back, and it’s quite easy to access and use. Here it’s on the side, and winding the cord really works best only going one direction as the lower clip is tucked in and a bit out of the way. The tool holder as well is not really integrated, rather a small ring with 2 friction holders for the crevice tool and brush that you put onto the upright extension during assembly. Assembly BTW is a very simple and straightforward proposition, and helps you to understand how to reconfigure. Additionally, the red 2 position on/off rocker switch looks like it came right off the parts rack of a radio shack.

The handle is well placed, well configured and comfortable to use. The main roller head is easy to tilt and the balance is quite good. Removing the tank is straightforward, and definitely one of the biggest selling points of this machine. I never liked having the hose stretch from the Dysons, which would inevitably fall over.

One thing the Shark is definitely lacking is the one hand or one finger type of ergos of the Dyson. For instance, the canister must be released via 2 flip style clips at the bottom vs the pushbutton release of the Dyson. When it comes to cleaning the Shark wins, but when it comes to those extra little amenities, you’ll have to pony up a few extra hundred dollars. However, I believe the Shark does have some advantages beyond aesthetics.

    Filter
This is one of the highlights of the Shark. The Dysons have a HEPA filter which consists of a little flat filter that rests on a ribbed plate and sits at the base of the canister unit. Comparatively the Shark may seem overly complex with its multi-step filter system in 2 different locations. With the very first use it was obvious how insufficient the Dyson was in this regard. It always smelled like I was vacuuming before. With the Shark, it smells clean. There is nothing going back into the air. One look at the base filter and you know how well it’s working, it was positively filthy. Luckily these filters are made to be cleaned. The base “pre motor” filter consists of a felt filter with a foam filter on top, and then the “post motor” air return filter is a HEPA filter inside of an egg crate style frame. This is the grill you see on the front, and is easily accessed. The pre motor filter is accessed when you remove the canister. For allergy sufferers this is 5-star stuff.

    Design Flaws
I have a couple of issues when comparing to the Dyson. The first being potentially important for allergy sufferers. Typically, the bag-less canisters have a little door at the bottom you open up to empty it. On the Dysons, the release for the door is at the top of the tank. You can lower the tank into a trash receptacle with one hand and pull the little release ring with your index finger, releasing the contents well away from your face and hands.

With the Shark, the release tab for the door is at the bottom of the canister opposite the hinge, which means you can’t drop the tank down into the trash can to release it, it needs to be up high enough so you can press the button. This means potential to get your hands dirty, or some of the dust and dirt to miss the can. Normally I’d go outside and do this right into the garbage can – if you do the same just make sure it’s not windy!

Additionally, the interior design of the canister has a flaw compared to the competition. Towards the top of the unit there is an inverted tube which comes close to the outside wall similar to the Dyson. However, the Shark has interior braces that trap dog fur. It can be easily dislodged by banging it, but you might not have that option. Again, this means you might be having to deal with potential contamination and sort of nullifies the excellent filtering of the unit.

    Cleaning/Carpet
The first thing I noticed when I switched it on was how quiet it is! I was positive that something like this would have to be far noisier. It’s most likely that newer models of Dyson are quieter, but I’ve had experience with 4 now and they all sound about the same. A higher pitched whirring sound with the Shark can be heard opposed to the deeper Dyson Roar on the carpet. As far as real cleaning, this positively outperforms the large Dyson. It’s easier to use and maneuver, and pulled far more out of the carpet than the Dyson did. Yuck! I had no idea. We have a medium pile carpet throughout the upstairs, and 2 long haired dogs. It was obvious that this thing was digging down much deeper than the Dyson from the tracks. The motorized brush also has an indicator light on it that lights green when the brush is working, and turns red if there is a blockage or jam. Another nice feature the Shark has is a little ring you can turn to cut down on the suction if it’s becoming too hard to push.

One thing worth mentioning could bother some people. On my cut pile carpet the Shark leaves brush marks, think of a rake on sand opposed to just the flat sweep I'm used to with a Dyson. I'm not sure if this really bugs me or not, and it probably varies from carpet to carpet. I don't have any other similar type to check this on. You can certainly tell in an instant that it has been vacuumed however.

    Cleaning/Hardwood Floors
The supplied Dust Away attachment with the detachable pad is a clever little extra that acts like a Swiffer on steroids. It works quite well right up to the wall, as well as sucking up all that dust and grit that manages to make its way in between gaps of the plank style hardwood floors. There is basically an open section in front of the pad to get the big stuff, and behind it is the pad which gets the dust and fine stuff that is usually missed by a vacuum even with a beater bar. You will still need to do the occasional wet mopping as things just get stuck on the floors, but for regular cleaning this is a nice option to have.

    Cleaning/Pet Attachment
This is a smaller attachment with a beater bar that is powered by suction. It’s rather cleverly constructed and works well on upholstery or stairs. It’s much smaller than the Dyson Animal attachment, and far more useful. The Dyson was too large to use for pretty much anything I ever found. It’s about 4 ½ inches wide so it’s perfect for chairs and sofas. I was actually sort of surprised at how much it actually got off of the upholstery compared to just a regular brush attachment. This was a pleasant surprise inclusion; I didn’t know it would be in the package.

    Pros
    - inexpensive
    - lightweight
    - easy to use
    - swivel base easy to maneuver
    - incredibly powerful
    - suction control
    - fantastic filter system
    - bag free design
    - 2 position power switch (motorized brush head on/off)
    - motorized brush head with blockage/jam indicator light
    - motorized brush head viewing window
    - portable lift-away canister for easy cleaning of stairs or hard to access areas
    - hardwood/tile floor attachment
    - pet upholstery attachment
    - 30’ cord
    - easy cord release
    - 5 year warranty

    Cons
    - questionable aesthetics/ergonomics
    - fussy design
    - some materials a little flimsy
    - no soft brush attachment
    - dustbin door release at bottom means possible contact with contents
    - motorized head only 11” wide

Wow, that’s it. I suppose one more con would be this is not a proven commodity. After a year I’ll check back in, but I would imagine Shark would have another model out by then. I can say in the last few days this little thing has really impressed me. Enough to write a review about a vacuum cleaner, which I never thought I would. But for $180, I honestly thought I was making a mistake. Instead it’s one of the smartest things I’ve done, thanks to the excellent reviews from Amazon customers.

In summary, besides the astounding power and cleaning performance of the Shark, there are 2 things I really love about it. The first is the Lift-Away design. I can’t say enough about how cool this is. It’s like having a canister vacuum you can carry around and get cobwebs, stairs etc. with without having to drag something around behind you. The second is the fantastic filter system. While I’m not a huge allergy sufferer, I had no idea how much crap was being blown back in the air with the Dyson. Combine these features with a lightweight, easy to maneuver and hard-sucking product they’ve fulfilled their promise.

While ergonomically lacking behind the Dyson, they’ve hit a good balance of features and performance, cutting corners where it would be least noticed and giving the consumer every bit from their hard earned dollar. I was dubious of Shark because of infomercials etc., but now I know they’re not throwing their money away on fancy packaging or industrial design with questionable returns.

    5 stars, highly recommended.

    [edit 1/19]
I apologize to anybody that asked me in the comments how I still felt about this vacuum. For some reason I haven't been getting notifications regarding review comments.

TBH, our housekeeper and destroyer of all things made short work of this vacuum in about 2 years. For regular people, who do crazy things like maintain their products, (check the pathway when vacuuming up string or large metal objects etc. when they hear terrible screaming and clattering sounds), I would assume this vacuum will give 5 years easy. (I don't miss her one bit.) She would basically cause any warranty to be voided. Seriously, she destroyed a broom after 3 uses.

I've moved into a small townhome, and will be back to doing my own cleaning. I have one of the Dysons she destroyed (seen in picture) after some repairs it's limping along. However, I plan to purchase this very same vacuum again because of its clever design and ease of use.

If I had one complaint, the power brush attachment is belt driven, so if you are a ham fisted klutz who tries to use it for things besides upholstery, the belt may come off of its track. I basically hid this tool from the housekeeper after a few weeks of abuse.
